The Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy proclamed by Pope francis, begin on the 8th of December 2015 and it will end on the 20th of November 2016.
The official start of the Jubilee takes place with the opening of the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica. The opening of the holy door at St Peter’s was the first time two popes were present, as Pontiff Emeritus Benedict attended at Pope Francis‘ invitation. The holy gates of other churches are opened in the following days.
To participate in the Major Events of the Jubilee in Rome and to pass through the Holy Door of Saint Peter’s Basilica, it is necessary to register. All the information is avaliable at the following link.
Pilgrims, including individuals, families, and large and small groups, are encouraged to register for the pilgrimage before arriving in Rome.
Tickets for Wednesday’s weekly audiences will also be free but mandatory, and can be requested from the Prefecture of the Papal Household.
Those who arrive in the Eternal City with no reservation for the Holy Door will have to request one at the welcome center for pilgrims located on the Via della Conciliazione. The center, managed by volunteers, is open seven days a week, 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

How reach Saint Peter’s Basilica from Vatican Rooms Cipro
It’s very easy to get Saint Peter’s Square from Vatican Rooms Cipro. It’s sufficient to get Cipro stop and go straight to the Vatican Walls. After reaching Vatican Museums, you have just to follow Vatican Museums to Saint Peter’s Colonnades.
Alternatively, you can take the subway, get off at Ottaviano and follow Via Ottaviano.
